Someone who is better at historical fic than me should do this AU. Idea occurred to me while working Mystrade RP Fic with @janinawoods. ❤ There’s several ways to do this idea but if you are so inclined I’ve also put a prompt idea below:
Mycroft Holmes is a man of import in London society, a wielder of great power in politics and very, very confident in his ability to manipulate people into behaving as he wishes. His brother, Sherlock, is a brilliant scourge of society/occasional detective dedicated to scientific experiment. The brothers debate which of their respective methods would be more successful at molding a person, and end up agreeing to test the results by actually attempting to sculpt a man’s personality “from the ground up.” Mycroft lands on rough copper Greg Lestrade as his subject, while Sherlock sets on John Watson, a disenfranchised former soldier.

The story I’m writing is very angsty Hoopstan & Johnlock co-parenthood… It’s in an AU where S3 happened differently, subsequently Mary while still being somewhat morally grey didn’t shoot Sherlock (this is the same universe my other Molly/Mary vignettes have taken place, it’s a good place for storyfying) And it’s starting with the birth. Both pairings get pretty much an equal weighting of the storyline though obviously a lot of the first part will focus on Molly given that she’s sprogging…
Who will want tagging when it gets to publishing time? Either reblog or reply. It’s going to be a little while coming I have just about two chapters, but I want to publish the first few chapters when the majority of it is under my belt, and I just have rewrites to do on the later chapters. I envisage it becoming part of a larger work, but I can’t promise, it just depends on my drive and ability, plus you guys reaction to what I write in this part.
(Also we are getting a lot of internal Sherlock stuff… the meaty feelings part… the best bit)
-became his guilty pleasure once he got the gist of it
-is always careful when doing so and did a lot of research into it beforehand
-is fascinated at every different versions of Earth he landed on
-will always find the world’s version of him first before exploring said dimension
-once landed on a version of earth where he’s a famous detective named Sherlock who lives with his best friend, a former military doctor, who had mistaken Strange as Sherlock’s twin
-”Gee, Sherlock, you still have more hidden siblings?”
-Sherlock eyes Strange in disdain and thinks he’s being impersonated
-Sherlock is suspiciously glaring at him while carrying a baby girl
-Strange secretly thinks they make a cute family
-sometimes he lands on versions of earth where he has no counterparts, but when he has, he finds it odd that their personalities are not much different
-one time he lands on a reality that almost resembles his own universe, except there he never became the sorcerer supreme and is still a top neurosurgeon
-he used to wish this was still his reality and became interested in this version of himself, only to realize that that man is lonely without any real friends like Wong, Christine, or at least Sherlock’s friend, Watson. It dawned to Strange that this would have been his life if the accident didn’t happen
-once landed on a fantasy style reality where humans co-exist with different creatures such as elves, dwarves, dragons, wizards, and the small folk they call Hobbits
-met a hobbit who looks rather familiar and then recognized him as Sherlock’s Watson, only he’s much smaller now and barely passing Strange’s waist
-hobbit’s name is Bilbo who is a very hospitable chap who invites him in his home and doesn’t even ask why the hell Strange suddenly appeared in the middle of his vegetable garden
-his home is small that has Strange banging his head on every corner
-cloak of levitation finds this amusing
-somehow, Strange is tagged along in a journey of 15 people
-the wizard, Gandalf, is very interested in Strange’s story
-Strange learns more and more of this universe through their journey and thinks this might be his favorite world so far
-encounters a talking dragon and suddenly stopped when he recognizes his own voice in the dragon
-apparently, he’s a dragon in that world
-not sure if he’s amazed or disturbed
-dragon attacking him was like him trying to kill another him
-Strange helps in lessening the casualties of the huge battle that followed
-is glad for Bilbo and Thorin ending up together
-Bilbo reminding Strange that there will be tea at four
-they parted as friends
-when he leaves, he’s curious as to why he already met the same person twice (Watson and Bilbo) when he doesn’t even know a version of him in his own world
-he wonders if there’s also a Watson in his own universe too and if they’re bound to meet
-it isn’t until the threat of Thanos came to earth and heroes are assembled in a huge conference that Strange thinks he sees him
-there’s a Watson look alike accompanying the king of Wakanda, only he’s a CIA Agent who goes by the name of Everett Ross
-Strange decided that once the threat passes and the world is free from alien danger, he’ll walk over to him and introduce himself

Aw, I’m pleased you liked the inclusion of “The Case of the Naked Honeymooners”! I love how Holmes follows Watson around making adoring eyes at him all throughout that case. It’s a shame it was cut from the film. 😦

Since I made this vid, there’s been a brand-new female Sherlock, just this last spring: Seol Ok, of the Korean tv series, Mystery Queen. I adore her (and her Watson, and her Hopkins, and the dynamic between all three of them) and I definitely recommend checking her out. 🙂
